Sintesi Finale
This work is based on the class of Storia delle Cose. The
purpose of this work is the creation of a blog about a color (which is
given to us by the teacher Vittorio Marchis at the beginning of the semester), and
through the steps that we are proposed to class to class (that are uploaded in the teacher blog http://storiadellecose.blogspot.it/), we do a deep
analysis of the color. I decided to write the blog in English because it is the language that I most dominate due to being an Erasmus student.
The color I was given was Turquoise Mystic Pearl. Obviously I already knew the color Turquoise but the adjacent names left me confused, did not know exactly what tone of turquoise it was, but I discovered that it was the tone that I liked the most.
Oh, what a journey... The first steps were the basis of everything, to describe the color in its own essence, as it appeared in the dictionary, to try to perceive what it was, what it meant and what its composition. (Step 01, Step 02, Step 03)
It was also part of integrating color into history, to find out where it came from, what the related beliefs were, and what it was used for. I discovered that it was a color widely used in antiquity and was unaware of the overwhelming importance it had on indigenous peoples (Step 04), with more emphasis on Egyptians (Step 21).
In addition to antiquity, the color Turquoise was present for all the times, always linked to the Arts, as we can see in the example of color in Cinema (Step 05) and Music (Step 07).
It is also a very marked color in the field of Science, primarily related to the issues of existence, creation of the world and astrological events. (Example: "Why is the sky blue?" And "Turquoise phase of the Moon") (Step 06, Step 14, Step 23).
In researching the influences of color on people, I have discovered that it is a color closely related to myths and superstitions. It was widely used by ancient peoples who believed in their protective powers against evil. Even nowadays it is believed that it has the power of protection, (Step 08 and Step 09).
Also, they say, it transmits tranquility, balance and has strong powers of creativity and communication (Step 15 Step 10 Step 18).
Thus, it is a color widely used in the Islamic Architecture (Step 22 and Step 11), Fashion, especially in 2010 that Turquoise was considered the 'Colour of the Year' (Step 20), in Gastronomy, not finding food with the desired color but modified so that it was (Step 12), Decoration and Design (Step 13, Step 16, Step 17).
With all the information collected was able to make a synthesis of words (Step 24) and a text descriptive of my color (Step 19), explaining all the concepts and definitions behind the same.
I have to say that I was a bit surprised by the theme of our work and at first it was a little crazy and bland, but as I got involved in the tasks, I gained a great taste for the challenge. For me this work was a great challenge, not bad but a good challenge. The collection of some information was laborious but I think in the end, the end result was worth it. Where I had the most difficulty was to find information about my turquoise tone, because all I found was about the main turquoise color or the stone itself. Even with what I found I tried to adapt to the maximum. I also tried to find pictures of what was asked of me with the shades that most resembled my color and not the main Turquoise. In the end I say that I really enjoyed this work and that I identify more with the color that was attributed to me.
